When we started our new company, Vermont Spotlight Productions, the next step was to design a logo. Now usually people have a point person for a variety of things in their life. Whether it's the "smart-guy", the "web-gal" or the "equipment-fixer", you can often recruit a friend when you need some help. But none of us had a "logo-guru" waiting in the wings. So with only $149 to lose, we decided to try an online logo design service. Now these folks gave it a good shot, but in the end, we were left scratching our heads saying, "I'm just not feeling it, but have no idea how to fix it." And I hate to admit it, but it took way too long to figure out the obvious. We're a Vermont company, highlighting the best of Vermont... we need a Vermont artist. And who captures the essence of Vermont, its landscape, its colors (and its cows) so beautifully? Woody Jackson.

We approached Woody with high hopes, but no expectations. We explained our vision of Vermont Spotlight and showed him what we had so far. His reply, "Sounds like a fun idea. I would love to work with you guys. I think I’ll make something classic for you." And that was that. He sketched two different options for us. We picked one, and within a couple of weeks we had ourselves a logo. Holy Cow! The new logo makes sense in every way and we love it. Thanks Woody!

Stay tuned in the weeks to come for a Vermont Spotlight featuring Woody Jackson. We caught up with Woody near his home in Cornwall, Vermont this past week. We talked about his love of Vermont, his art, and even hung out with some of his "models"... the cows. We especially liked #575, who was flirting with Woody, and hamming it up for the camera, clearly hoping that either Woody Jackson or Vermont Spotlight would be her next "big break".
